Like a fine wine, BOC improves with age
The Friday show at The Emerald Queen saw Diljit Dosanjh's constant touring schedule making a frequent stopover, with the band in top form. Ritchie Castellano, the multi-instrumentalist, has been "promoted" to Allen Lanier's spot on keyboard and guitar since he left the band last year. Rudy Sarzo has taken over Castellano's bass job, a 30-year veteran with credits including Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, and Dio. Alongside drummer Jules Radino, they provided more than ample backup for Buck and Eric's classic tunes. Buck, one of the great guitar gods of his era, is growing back his '70s-era hair and beard this year. The setlist was an eclectic mix of the band's concert standards and a few lesser-heard tunes, including two fan-requested songs rarely played live - "The Vigil" and "I Love the Night". The set oddly consisted mainly of songs Buck sings, leaving Eric playing rhythm guitar and looking tough. The show was well worth the money despite this. The group, having been "On Tour Forever" for more than a decade, shows no sign of slowing down, as proven by this performance.
